Client Reviews

Your teaching is very clear, concise, and patient which makes learning a sometimes difficult subject easier.
SoG, 2021

I attended the above tutorial this evening and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Very interesting and informative. A very good basis to start learning more about the subject.

I had already done years of family history research online and with personal visits to record offices in the UK and the Caribbean, but was stuck going further back with a couple of family members and some missing records. Caroline approached my problem from several angles that I would not have known about, clearing up some of my questions and setting me off on further exciting routes for investigation. She is absolutely meticulous, and her knowledge and experience puts two and two together in ways that I would never have been able to do. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

My experience with Caroline has always been first class. The speed and depth of her responses always went beyond my expectations and her skills in deciphering the most illegible handwriting are remarkable. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her and will without doubt contact her again with further queries in relation to understanding more about the history of works of art, artists and their models.

Thanks very much for coming all the way to Bideford on Saturday. I am already getting emails from members saying how much they enjoyed it and will you come back.

Many thanks for coming over to Chepstow yesterday and giving us an insight into tracing living relatives. It was an excellent presentation and I'm sure everyone gained at lot from it. It's an area of family history I am interested in researching and your talk has given me the impetus to look wider than the direct family tree.
Alison, Chepstow U3A Family History Group, 2019

I am amazed at your results. Extremely grateful.

Just finished watching the webinar by Caroline Gurney. It was excellent! I have been reading up on this topic by myself and found her presentation to be very well done, with great examples of records and images to fill in gaps in my own background reading. This was a great webinar, and I look forward to others in your ISBFGH series.

I wanted to say a massive thank you for the wonderful report, it is excellent to see everything consolidated and all of the detail you
have added. I can’t thank you enough, I know my mother will massively appreciate this present so thank you soooo much!
Marina, 2019
Your beautifully presented report was a delight to read.

Wow, I do think I got my money's worth.  Thank you for all your sleuthing. I read through most of it this morning but need to go back and read and really concentrate. What fun to have all this information.

Just a short note, on behalf of the club, to say how much we enjoyed your talk, as well as your good company, at our meeting last night ~ it was an excellent presentation.
Barry, Clevedon 41 Club, 2017

I just read the report and it is fantastic. Particularly the military records of our family.

You are an absolute star! Many thanks for your very detailed action
plan! It will give me some much needed discipline and a shot in the arm
which is precisely what I needed.

Virtually all that was known about William Moore's life in England before his arrival in Moreton Bay in 1855 at the age of 29 years was summed up in the following statement made at his funeral in 1906: "His early years in Somerset 'were passed amidst many difficulties'." I was fortunate to establish contact with Caroline Gurney Historical Research Services in Bristol. Caroline is located in Bristol where Moore began his education and training. Like Moore, she is a Baptist and is familiar with the Baptist history of the area. Her research uncovered the answers to many of the questions I had about Moore's family background, his early history, and his education. The first chapter in this book could not have been written without the information uncovered by Caroline's research and expertise, and at the outset, therefore, I want to acknowledge the extremely valuable part she played in helping me to put together the William Moore story.

Again, I am flabbergasted by the quantity of material, and the various approaches to imparting the information. I don't know how you do it within the time-scale.

I'm so pleased to be able to read through your research work - Excellent work and well done Caroline.
Barry, 2014
I think you are a superb researcher.

Thank you for all your hard work that you have done on my family tree. I have read through some of it and it's so interesting and can't wait to finish reading it. I'm going to give it to my Dad for Christmas and I know he will be so happy, as it's some thing that he has wanted for a long time.
Laura, 2013
My Dad loved the family history, thank you.
Donna, 2013
I am literally speechless about both the speed and quality of every email reply you send!  How absolutely fantastic this is.
Russell Leven, BBC Director, 2013
Caroline is a first class historian and genealogist, who brought to the project several years of experience, great insight and endless enthusiasm. She delivered a long and complex project in record time, working beyond her duties and going the extra mile.
Alessandra Canavesi, Marketing Manager, Cultural Sponsorship, HSBC, 2012
Thank you so much for all of this. I cannot imagine the level of skill that goes into uncovering all this information.
Katherine, 2012
I am extremely pleased with your research and the detailed report. It is very thorough and easy to understand. You have confirmed some of the data that had been entered on the old site. But, more importantly, you have provided so much additional information for my family.  I will be adding to and correcting my database. The images are great.

Thank you for your fascinatingly informative talk re "Descendants of Cutty Sark - Tracing Living People". Like most, metaphorically speaking, I often feel like a permanent resident, camped in front of yet ANOTHER brick wall.  However, I felt inspired by your enthusiasm about alternative tools & approaches to be able to knock a hole through some of them.
Pam, 2012
Wonderful stuff! I am very pleased with your diligence and results.
Alan, 2012
Your blog pages are great but your talks are even better ... your talks were some of the best ever given.
